Golden Eagles complete round one of GolfWeek Program Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Day one of the GolfWeek Program Championship wrapped up for the Tennessee Tech men's golf team's first round of action of 2018-19 Sunday afternoon, with the Golden Eagles ranked 13th among the 14 teams in competition.

Four Tech golfers combined to shoot 296 in round one at True Blue Plantation, sitting just three strokes behind Ohio Valley Conference rival Jacksonville State. Campbell led the event after the first 18 holes of play with a 269 as a unit. Campbell's Jesper Svensson led all golfers with a first-round 65.

Tech sophomore Will Brooks and junior Dabney Dickenson tied for the team lead after the first test of the season, each posting rounds of 73 to tie for 43rd among 75 participants. Brooks tallied three birdies on the day while Dickenson totaled two of his own.

Tying for 60th overall were sophomore Bracton Womack and senior Matthew Giles, who turned in scores of 75. Giles recorded three birdies of his own while Womack posted two.

The Golden Eagles will kick off round-two action Monday morning with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. CT.
