Tech men's golf team kicks off 2018-19 slate at GolfWeek Program Championship

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team is set to kick off the 2018-19 season, heading to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the GolfWeek Program Championship Sunday, Sept. 9 through Tuesday, Sept. 11.

GOLFWEEK PROGRAM CHAMPIONSHIP: Sept. 9-11, 2018 – 54 holes (18 Sunday, 18 Monday, 18 Tuesday), located at the par-72, 6,926-yard True Blue Plantation in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Tech will kick off action with tee times beginning at 7:15 a.m. CT on Sunday morning.

GOLDEN EAGLE LINEUP: Competing for the Golden Eagles are sophomore Bracton Womack, sophomore Will Brooks, senior Matthew Giles, junior Cameron Yeary and junior Dabney Dickenson.

THE COMPETITION: The 14-team field consists of Alabama State, Austin Peay, Bradley, Campbell, Delaware, Florida Gulf Coast, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville State, Old Dominion, Presbyterian, South Dakota, Stephen F. Austin, Tennessee Tech and Valparaiso.

THOUGHTS FROM COACH BROWN: "The guys are really looking forward to competing in the first event of the year. Qualifying was very competitive, which will serve us well when we get under tournament conditions. True Blue is a great course to start the fall. It is a very scoreable course where the guys can shoot some great numbers. We can't wait to get started."

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: Four of the team's top-five scorers from last season will see action in the season-opening tournament for the Golden Eagles, including a pair of sophomores, Brooks and Womack, that finished with nearly identical scoring averages to lead Tech a year ago.
