Golden Eagles head south for Samford Intercollegiate in Birmingham

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – One the road for the second time in as many weeks, the Tennessee Tech men's golf team heads south for the Samford Intercollegiate at Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, Ala. with play set for Monday, Oct. 23 and Tuesday, Oct. 24.

SAMFORD INTERCOLLEGIATE: Oct. 23-24, 2017 – 54 holes (36 Monday, 18 Tuesday), located at the Founder's Course at Greystone Golf and Country Club in Birmingham, Ala. Teams will kick off with a 9 a.m. CT shotgun start on Monday and an 8:30 a.m. start with tee times on Tuesday.

GOLDEN EAGLE LINEUP: Competing for the Golden Eagles are freshman Bracton Womack, freshman Will Brooks, senior Alexander Riddle, junior Matthew Giles and senior A.J. Wilkerson.

THE COMPETITION: The nine-team field consists of host Samford, Auburn, Austin Peay, Delta State, Miles College, Montevallo, Murray State, Tennessee Tech and UT Martin, as well as individuals from both Alabama and UAB.

THOUGHTS FROM COACH BROWN: "The guys are ready to get back after it again this week. They played pretty well down the stretch at Austin Peay last week and will look to try maintain that momentum headed down to Birmingham. This is our second of three straight weeks of action, so building some routine will be helpful for us."

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: The Golden Eagles head back to Birmingham for the second straight year, boasting a good amount of success returning to Greystone Golf & Country Club from last year's fourth-place finish. Wilkerson, Giles and Riddle all put together top-15 finishes in last season's event, with Wilkerson nabbing All-Tournament honors after tying for fifth place.
