Wilkerson earns All-Tournament honors, Golden Eagles place fourth at Samford Intercollegiate

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team wrapped up its fall season Tuesday afternoon, placing fourth at the Samford Intercollegiate at Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, Ala.

The Golden Eagles notched a third-round total of 301, combining with scores of 299 and 304 from Monday for a 904 overall. Ohio Valley Conference rival UT Martin took home the tournament title, carding an 889 behind medalist Hunter Richardson's 215.

Tech's lead man, A.J. Wilkerson, earned All-Tournament honors for the week, posting a third-round 74 to back rounds of 75 and 72. His 221 overall score landed him in a tie for fifth place overall.

Next on the leaderboard for the Golden Eagles, Matthew Giles tied for 11th place with a third-round total of 77. After Monday's tallies of 72 and 77, the sophomore finished with a 226 for the event. Junior Alexander Riddle also tallied a 77 over the final 18 holes, concluding play at 228 overall and in a tie for 14th place.

Saving his best round of the event for last, freshman Cameron Yeary carded a 79-77-73=229 for the two-day tournament, tying for 17th place overall. Redshirt freshman Landon Albert wrapped up his fall with a final scorecard of 80-79-92=251.
