Golden Eagles conclude play at Kenny Perry Invitational

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team wrapped up play at the Kenny Perry Invitational at The Club at Olde Stone Tuesday afternoon, completing its final round of action with a 304 overall.

Over three rounds, the Golden Eagles shot 304, 311 and 304 once more to finish their third event of the fall season with a score of 919. Ohio Valley Conference foe Eastern Kentucky claimed the tournament title in Bowling Green, Ky., finishing at 860 overall.

Western Kentucky's Billy Tom Sargent took home individual medalist honors, posting an impressive 208 with three rounds under par on the team's home course. As for the Golden Eagles, sophomore Matthew Giles finished in the top spot for the team, tying for 25th in the 69-man field. Giles closed out the event with a third-round 79 and a 224 total.

Not far behind, junior Alexander Riddle tied for 32nd behind his best round of the tournament, a 73 in the final round. Riddle carded a 77-77-73=227 for the two-day event. Fellow junior A.J. Wilkerson came in next on the leaderboard for Tech, posting his lowest round of the week as well with a 75. He closed play with a 233 behind the 75 and first and second rounds of 78 and 80, respectively.

True freshman Dabney Dickenson fired a 77 on the final day of play, adding to his first two rounds of 75 and 86 for a grand total of 238. Concluding his first collegiate event, redshirt freshman Landon Albert carded an 88-83-82=253 to round out the Tech five.

The Golden Eagles will return to the links next week on Monday, Oct. 17 for the F&M Bank Intercollegiate hosted by Austin Peay.
