MADISON, Ill. - The Tennessee Tech men's golf team completed not one, but two rounds at the Derek Dolenc Invitational hosted by SIUE at Gateway National Golf Links Monday, rounding out the day with a 300-314=614.

The Golden Eagles sent a plethora of youth to their second event of the fall season, including three true freshman. In fact, just one Tech golfer, junior A.J. Wilkerson, entered play with experience in Madison, Ill., having made the trip to last year's event.

Not surprisingly, Wilkerson led the Tech men through the first two rounds of the event, carding a 73-79=152 to sit in a tie for 43rd among the 87-man field. Fellow junior Alexander Riddle finished Monday not far behind his teammate, ranking in a tie for 46th overall after posting rounds of 73 and 80 for a 153 overall.

Coming in as the most conistent shooter of the day was freshman Charles Seals, who notched rounds of 78 and 76 for a two-round tally of 154. Not far behind was another Tech rookie, Cameron Yeary, who tallied a 157 off rounds of 76 and 81.

One more freshman rounded out the participants for the Golden Eagles in rounds one and two; Dabney Dickenson. The newcomer collected an 85-79=164 during his second career event.

"It was a difficult day for the men," head coach Polk Brown said. "I'm hoping they are able to learn from today and use tomorrow as a means to build some confidence and momentum heading into Western Kentucky's event in two weeks. We have a long way to go, but we have to stay positive and look for things to build on moving forward."
