Tech men's and women's golf teams share golf knowledge with students of Algood Middle School

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Adept at reading putts and adjusting to unfavorable lies, several members of the Tennessee Tech men's and women's golf teams took time to pass some of that wisdom on to students of Algood Middle School Thursday afternoon.

"It was just fun to get our players out here to be with the youth in our community," head coach Polk Brown explained. "We don't get to do this very often, especially with the weather as nice as it is, so having the opportunity is always a blessing."

Golden Eagle golfers were paired with students from AMS and took to fairways and greens of White Plains Golf Course. The Tech players then set up the students with difficult and unusual lies (behind trees, out-of-bounds, etc.), showing them their options and teaching them the best shot in those situations.

"It was fun to work with these kids and show them some of the intricacies of golf and how to adjust to certain shots. I know our players enjoyed themselves and were happy to have the chance to give back."

Both the men's and women's Golden Eagle golf teams will head to Sevierville, Tenn. this weekend to host the Fourth Annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, running from Sunday, Mar. 20 through Tuesday, Mar. 22.
