Tech men's golf team looks to rebound at Kenny Perry Invitational

By Mike Lehman, Tennessee Tech Sports Information Coordinator

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team gets its first taste of back-to-back weeks of action in the 2014-15 fall season, heading just north for the Kenny Perry Invitational Monday and Tuesday, hosted by Western Kentucky.

The 54-hole event will take place at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Ky. and kick off at 7:30 a.m. CT. The Golden Eagles will be grouped with players from Florida Atlantic and fellow Ohio Valley Conference member Jacksonville State on the first day of play. A shotgun start at 9 a.m. will follow on Tuesday for the final 18 holes.

The field will consist of over 60 players on 12 teams, including the following listed in alphabetical order:

Austin Peay
Dayton
Eastern Kentucky
Florida Atlantic
Jacksonville State
IPFW
Lipscomb
Morehead State
Oakland
Stetson
Tennessee Tech
Western Kentucky

Tech enters play this week after struggling through inclement weather and delays at the Bearcat Invitational in Hebron, Ky. last week. Wiley veteran Lee Whitehead finished with the top spot on the Golden Eagle squad, posting a final 36-hole score of 147 to tie for 13th overall.

"Off the heels of a disappointing performance, I look for the guys to regain form at Olde Stone," head coach Polk Brown said. "The golf course and field are outstanding. It represents another great opportunity for these young men to gain some momentum as we have reached the halfway point of the fall season. I look for this group to bounce back strongly from Cincinnati."
