JONESBORO, Ark. - Consistent play from multiple sophomores helped the Tennessee Tech men's golf team kick off the Red Wolf Intercollegiate at RidgePointe Country Club with a solid start, as the Golden Eagles finished 36 holes Monday for a total score of 609 to tie for 11th.

With 21 teams to battle with, the Golden Eagles established good positioning for the final 18 holes on Tuesday morning. Tech was led by Bryce Kendrick on the first day of action, as the sophomore carded rounds of 76 and 75 for an overall 151 to tie for 26th.

Not far behind was fellow sophomore Mitch Thomas, who wrapped up play with a 153 behind rounds of 77 and 76 to tie for 38th. Lee Whitehead put together rounds of 75 and 80 to tie for 54th with an overall of 155. Sophomore Adam Cunningham also scored a 155, carding 79 and 76.

Wrapping up play was junior Mason Griffin, who put together a great first round of 74 before struggling a little in round two with an 83. He finished with a 157 overall.

Play will kick off with an 8:30 a.m. CT shotgun start on Tuesday as Tech looks to climb up the leaderboard. The Golden Eagles sit just 10 shots back of fifth place and will look to make steady progress as the round unfolds.
