MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. - For the second straight year, the Tennessee Tech men's golf team was denied the chance to upgrade its position in the final round of the Ohio Valley Conference Championships, as the final 18 holes were not able to be completed on Sunday at The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Ala. due to inclement weather.

The Golden Eagles finished the event tied for eighth while Jacksonville State, the leader from the beginning of the event, took home 2014 OVC crown.

The round started under calm playing conditions but the round was stopped at 12:02 for lightning which led to a one-hour, 34-minute weather delay. The teams were able to play again for another hour and 13 minutes before more lightning delayed play until for good at 2:49 p.m. There were four groups who were not through nine holes, which reverted the final standings back to the 36-hole total at the end of Saturday's play.

The OVC Championship in each 2011, 2013 and 2014 have been reduced to 36 holes because of bad weather.

Individually, Austin Peay's Marco Iten won the title with an eight-under-par 136.

Tech was led by sophomore Bryce Kendrick, who carded rounds of 77 and 72 to finish at five-over, placing him in a tie for 20th for the tournament. Junior Lee Whitehead was close behind, shooting rounds of 78 and 73 in his final tournament of the season.

Fellow junior Mason Griffin ended his comeback campaign (Griffin redshirted last season due to injury) with an 81+73=154.

Mitch Thomas, who was named a member of the All-OVC team Friday evening, rounded out the Tech scoring with finals 80 and 72 for an overall of 152, tying for 32nd overall.

Sophomore Adam Cunningham wrapped up his sophomore campaign with an overall final of 164, shooting rounds of 86 and 78.
