MARTIN, Tenn. - Five top 20 finishes were more than enough for the Tennessee Tech men's golf to grab second place in the Grover Page Classic as the Golden Eagles wrapped up a great two days in Martin, Tenn. with their first top 5 finish of the spring season and fourth of the year.

Located at the par-72 Jackson Country Club, the Golden Eagles used a career outing from sophomore Adam Cunningham to notch their highest finish of the season. Cunningham finished tied for fourth after carding a 215 for the three-round event. He also garnered his first career All-Tournament honors after finishing in the top 5.

Fellow sophomore Mitch Thomas managed a top 10 finish, tying for eighth in the field of 78 after wrapping up the tournament with a third-round 72 to finish with an overall score of 217.

Also contributing to the second place finish were juniors Lee Whitehead and Mason Griffin and sophomore Bryce Kendrick, who all tied for 19th overall with scores of 221. Kendrick tied for a team low in the third round with 72 and Griffin tallied a 73 to help the Golden Eagles finish high than any other Ohio Valley Conference team in the event.

Competing as an individual, junior Maxx Verble finished in a tie for 56th after wrapping up his first spring action with an overall score of 235. Also playing on his own accord, senior Tanner Garland concluded play with a 237 to rank 61st in the event.

The second place finish marks the highest for the Golden Eagles since they tied for second at the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate back in 2012. Griffin led the team in that event, tying for 14th with an overall score of 216.

Tennessee Tech will now prepare to host the second ever Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, beginning Monday, Mar. 17 in Sevierville, Tenn.
