Golf team returns to action Monday at Murray State Invitational

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- After a three-week break in tournament action, the Tennessee Tech men's golf team returns to competition this week at the Murray State Invitational Monday, Oct. 3 and Tuesday, Oct. 4.

The Golden Eagles are looking to improve upon a ninth-place finish at the Wasioto Winds Fall Kick-Off Classic on Sept. 12-13, their only tournament of the fall season thus far.

"I'm very excited about heading to Murray," head coach Polk Brown said. "It seems like it has been forever since the men have played and I'm looking forward to seeing how things go with the team. We have been successful at this golf course before, and I believe we will be again this year."

The tournament will be held at Miller Memorial Golf Course, the home course of the Racers. The Miller course measures 6.592 yards from the championship tees to a par of 71.

The longest hole on the course, the par-five 17th, is 535 yards long, while the shortest hole is the par-three 16th, measuring 171 yards.

Tech will go with a lineup that features senior Tyler Cassetty in the No. 1 slot, followed by sophomore Greg Kitts, sophomore Mason Griffin, senior Travis Ramsey and junior Lee Maxwell.

Freshmen Taylor Diegel and Maxx Verble will play as individuals.

The MSU Invitational begins with two rounds of 18 holes on Monday followed by one 18-hole final round on Tuesday.

Results will be posted on TTUSports.com as they become available.
