COOKVILLE, Tenn. -- Junior Tyler Cassetty has played in several
big tournaments throughout his young golfing career, and Monday
he'll add another chapter to his resume when he tees off as
Tennessee Tech's No. 1 when the Golden Eagles open the season in
Kentucky.
Coach Graig King takes the Golden Eagles to the Pine Island State
Resort Park in the southeast corner of the state, to play in the
Morehead State
Fall Kick-Off Invitational. The 54-hole tourney begins with
a 9 a.m. shotgun start at the Wasioto Winds Golf Course. After
playing a practice round Sunday, the field of 10 teams will play 36
holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday.
Tech is slated to play alongside Belmont and Southern Illinois in
the first round. Other teams in the field include host Morehead
State, Murray State, UT Martin, Lipscomb, Bellarmine, Walters State
and John A. Logan College.
Cassetty sat out last season as a redshirt after seeing regular
action in his first two seasons on the roster. He returns to action
at the top of Tech's five-player team lineup. Following him in the
lineup will be juniors Travis Ramsey and Lee Maxwell, and freshmen
Mason Griffin and Greg Kitts. Another freshman, Sam Schrock, will
also be in the tournament competing on an individiual basis.
