HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. -- Freshman Mason Griffin was the team's top
finisher as Tennessee Tech placed 11th in the F&M Bank
Intercollegiate men's golf tournament, hosted by Austin Peay at The
Links at Novadell.
Jacksonville State (822) won the team championship by nine strokes
over Bowling Green State (831), with Oakland (840) placing third.
Austin Peay, UT Martin and Troy (847) all tied for fourth place,
followed by Eastern Illinois and Samford (849) in a tie for seventh
place, Eastern Kentucky (851), Murray State (855), Tennessee Tech
(856), Towson (861), SIU Edwardsville and Tennessee State (869),
Morehead State (873), Belmont (881) and Western Illinois (882).
Griffin tied for 33rd place individually. The Golden Eagle freshman
shot a final round 71 Tuesday to finish at 214, one shot better
than teammate Tyler Cassetty in 39th place at 215. Cassetty also
carded a 71 Tuesday.
Freshman Sam Schrock, who opened play with a 69 Monday, finished
with a 76 Tuesday and placed in a tie for 43rd at 216. Redshirt
freshman Greg Kitts also opened with a 69 Monday, and finished play
with a 74 to place 46th at 217. Lee Maxwell rounded out Tech's
lineup, placing 59th at 220 following a final round 72.
Charlie Olson of Bowling Green State won medalist honors in a
three-way playoff, edging JSU teammates Gonzalo Berlin and Matthew
Wallace. All three finished at 204.
The tounament was the final action of the fall schedule for coach
Craig King's men's team.
