BUCHANAN, Tenn. -- Tyler Cassetty was Tennessee Tech's highest
finisher, closing play in a tie for 38th place as the Golden Eagle
men's golf team placed 13th at the 54-hole UT Martin Skyhawk
Classic Tuesday. The tourney was held at the 6,685-yard, par 72
Paris Landing State Park.
Cassetty following matching rounds of 76 in the first two rounds
with a 72 Tuesday to post a 224 total. Freshman Sam Schrock, Tech's
leader after the first round, posted scores of 77 in the second and
third rounds to finish in a tie for 47th place at 226. Joining that
pair in Tech's lineup were Mason Griffin tied for 52nd place at
227, Lee Maxwell in 74th place at 234, and Ttravis Ramsey tied for
75th at 235.
Greg Kitts, competing individually, shot a 226 total to tie for
47th place.
Cental Arkansas won the team title with an 842 total, securing a
14-shot victory over second place Murray State at 856. Host UT
Martin was third at 863, followed by Evansville (878), Union (880),
John Logan College (881), Southern Illinois (883), Jackson State
(885), UTM No. 2 (887), Valparaiso (892), Lipscomb (894), Murray
No. 2 (899). Tennessee Tech (906), Lambuth (906) and Bethel
(956).
The next action for coach Craig King's squad is the APSU
Invitational, Oct. 18-19.
