PICKWICK LANDING, Tenn. -- Freshman Sam Schrock is in 17th place
to lead Tech individually and four Golden Eagles are in the Top 25
following the first round of the UT Martin Skyhawk Classic, being
held at Pickwick Landing State Park. In the team standings, Tech is
in sixth place in the 15-team field following the first 18 holes of
play.
Schrock toured the course with a 72 Monday to place him in a tie
for 17th. Teamates Lee Maxwell, Mason Griffin and Greg Kitts are
all tied for 25th place at 73. Tyler Cassetty shot an opening round
76 and is tied for 55th palce, while Travis Ramsey opened with a 78
and is tied for 67th place.
Central Arkansas owns the first round lead with a 281, five shots
ahead of host UT Martin and Murray State, and six better than John
A. Logan College in fourth place. Union University is fourth at 290
while Tech is sixth with a team score of 294. Evansville (296),
Murray State No. 2 (296), Southern Illinois (297) fill the next
three spots, while UT Martin No. 2, Jackson State and Valparaiso
are tied for 10th at 299.
Results from the second round, played later Monday, will be posted
as soon as they become available. The final round is slated for
Tuesday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
