Golden Eagle men's golf team opens spring slate at Dancing Rabbit Sunday

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech men's golf team gets the 2009 spring season underway Sunday and Monday at the Pizza Hut Invitational, hosted by Jackson State University. The 36-hole event has 18 holes scheduled for each day at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Course on the Choctaw indian Reservation.

Tech will be among the teams challenging for the team title in a field of 13 teams, and first-year coach Craig King is taking a potent and experienced lineup into the event.

The Golden Eagle lineup will include seniors Greyson Painter, Jared Dunn, Jake Heatherly and Calvin Clark, along with junior Wes Korth.

The course has been highly rated as one of the top resort courses in the nation, according to King, and will test his veteran players.

"We're eager to get on the course and kick off the spring season," King said. "They have won this event in the past, so the positive outlook will be a big boost for confidence coming out of winter and limited playing time."
