Alex Fain is in his fifth year as an assistant coach for the Golden Eagles following his hiring on April 15, 2019.

Fain joined the Tech staff after spending his previous five seasons with the Alabama men’s basketball program, including the past two as the scouting and recruiting coordinator. He also served as the team’s video coordinator each of the prior three years.

In his most recent role, Fain assisted the coaching staff with both opponent and self-scouting in helping the team and staff prepare for upcoming opponents. He also worked with practice plans and recruiting presentations, while creating individual player edits.

Prior to his new role, Fain served as the team’s video coordinator for the previous three seasons (2014-17). While there, he was responsible for all aspects of video operations, including film exchange and video breakdown of both games and practices, among other duties.

Fain returned to his alma mater in 2014 after spending part of the 2013-14 season as the video coordinator for Indiana University.

Prior to his time in Bloomington, Fain was a manager for the Alabama basketball team for four years. Included in his duties as manager was setting up and breaking down equipment for each practice, assisting with one-on-one drills with the players, and helping at the Alabama basketball camps, among other requests from the coaching staff.

Fain earned his bachelor’s degree in human performance exercise science from Alabama in 2013. He is married to the former Turner Pyle and the couple resides in Cookeville with their sons, Fitz and Sullivan.
