Tech men close regular season with loss at Eastern Kentucky

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech men tried to rally late to overcome Eastern Kentucky on Saturday afternoon, but even with the efforts of Mason Ramsey early and Hakeem Rogers late, the Golden Eagles fell just short, losing to the Colonels, 75-71, at McBrayer Arena.

With Saturday's league results in the books, Tech (12-19, 8-8 Ohio Valley Conference) will officially be the No. 6 see in the conference tournament this upcoming week at Nashville's Municipal Auditorium, facing off against No. 7 seeded Murray State at 8:30 p.m. CT Wednesday evening.

Ramsey led the way for the Golden Eagles with 16 points and seven rebounds. Ramsey had nine of the Golden Eagles' first 13 points. He was also 7-for-12 from the floor.

Rogers hit a pair of big 3-pointers down the stretch to keep the Golden Eagles within striking distance and ended the game with 15 points.

Kajon Mack missed a double-double, scoring nine points and pulling down seven boards, while he also had four assists and four steals.

As a team, the Golden Eagles shot 26-for-60 from the field and was 11-for-13 from the charity stripe. Tech was 8-for-23 from 3-point range.

Tech had a hard time containing Nick Mayo, who led the Colonels (12-19, 5-11 OVC) with 31 points on a 12-for-18 effort. Asante Gist also scored in double figures, posting 22 points.

The Colonels shot 27-of-55 from the floor and 13-for-20 from the line. EKU shot 8-for-23 from long range.
