COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men’s
basketball program will kick off its annual individual and team
camps earlier than usual this year, with June 3 marking the start
of the first of four camps to be held in June.
“We’re really looking forward to getting an early start
on camps this season,” head coach Steve Payne said of the
upcoming events. “As coaches, we look at camp season as a
great opportunity to have an impact on local and regional young
talent. We want to see kids in the community develop a passion for
the game, and it’s great to see them getting interested in
Golden Eagle basketball.”
The TTU men’s basketball program will host one individual
camp from June 3-6, open to boys ages eight to 18. The cost of the
camp is $275 for overnight campers and $225 for day campers. A $50
deposit is due with each application, and individuals applying in
groups of three of more will receive a $10.00 discount per
application.
Individual camp will feature personal contact with Coach Payne and
his staff in daily clinics for shooting, position play, dribbling
and ball handling, team offense and defense, teamwork and
sportsmanship.
Overnight campers will enjoy air-conditioned gym and residence
halls for three nights’ lodging and all meals, professionally
prepared with campers in mind. Campers will be housed two per room
in TTU dormitories and will be under constant supervision at all
hours of the day and evening.
Three different team camps will also be hosted over the course of
two weeks in June. The first and third sessions will be open to
high school and junior high school players and will be held from
June 11-13 and June 20-22. The second session will be open to high
school aged campers only, and will run from June 17-19.
Teams electing to board during camps will be charged $225 per team
plus $165 per individual player, and a fee of $75 for each
assistant or non-playing manager or bus drive. Commuting teams will
pay the standard $225 team fee, while players with meals will be
charged $100 individually and players without meals will be charged
$75.
Team camp will feature individual instruction daily with the Tech
staff, as well as a hospitality room for coaches, a coaching clinic
with the TTU staff, and the use of team meeting rooms.
Participating coaches will also enjoy free use of the Fitness
Center and free green fees at Ironwood Golf Course. Separate JV and
Varsity schedules will be put together and intra-squad tournaments
will be conducted in both the Hooper Eblen Center as well as the
Tennessee Tech Memorial Gym.
