In 2009-10 (Sophomore): At the guard position, Murphy led the Golden Eagles in total points with 491 (fifth in the OVC), averging 15.3 ppg in 31.3 minutes per game. He spent 1003 mintues on the floor for Tech last season, a statistic that ranks third on the team, shooting .442 from the floor (170-385) .306 from beyond the arc (37-121) and .755 from the line (114-151). Murphy contributed 125 total rebounds, ranking second on the team in defensive boards with 88. He also claimed the two-spot for his assist stat, logging 66 on the year. Starting 31 games and appearing in all 32, he was awarded the Best Offensive Player award by head coach Mike Sutton.

In 2008-09 (Freshman): Kevin played in all 30 games, and made 19 starts, starting the final 12 games of the season for the Golden Eagles as a freshman...scored a season-high 23 points at UT Martin on Feb. 14...scored over 20 points three times...scored in double figures on 16 occasions, including 10 of his final 13 games...made 6-of-9 (.667) three-pointers against Eastern Kentucky on Feb. 6...hit 38-of-93 (.409) of his three-pointers on the season...averaged 9.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 20.3 minutes per game...named Tech's Most Improved Player by coach Sutton at season's end.

High School: Earned four varsity letters at Creekside High School in Fairburn, Ga…Named most improved player his sophomore and junior years…made the all-region team his senior year, and was the recipient of the Naismith award…led team to a third place regional finish and a state sweet 16 berth in 2008…averaged 26 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists per game during his senior season…played both the two and three positions.
