COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men’s
basketball team will showoff its game on national TV on Jan. 14
when ESPNU broadcasts its game live against UT Martin. Tipoff is
scheduled for 8 p.m. Central from the Elam Center in Martin,
Tenn.
Golden Eagle senior Frank Davis has proven all season long that he
is among the best shooters in the nation, as he currently ranks
third in the country in 3-point field goal percentage, hitting 51.5
percent of his 3-point attempts on the season. Davis is averaging a
team-high 15.6 points per game and has scored 20 or more in four of
Tech’s last five games. The Golden Eagles as a team are
ranked 39th in the country in field goal percentage, hitting 47.7
percent of their shots.
UTM is led by Benzor Simmons who averages 17.1 points and 6.9
rebounds per game. Simmons is the only player who has started all
14 games for the Skyhawks. Reuben Clayton (14.9) and Delrico Lane
(10.6) are also averaging double-figures for UTM.
The Skyhawks rank last in the OVC in scoring offense, putting up
66.4 points per game, while Tech ranks second with 76.7 points per
game. Tech and UTM are the bottom two teams in the OVC in scoring
defense, as Tech allows 78.7 points per game and UTM allows

but the Skyhawks have taken the last four contests, including three
a season ago. UTM beat Tech twice in the regular season, and again
in the opening round of the OVC tournament to end Tech’s
