Drew Rodriguez
Title: Assistant Coach - Running Backs

As Tennessee Tech head football coach Bobby Wilder continues to complete his coaching staff, he has added a young emerging talent to oversee the Golden Eagles' running backs with the addition of Drew Rodriguez.

"We are pleased to announce that Drew Rodriguez will be joining our staff as the running backs coach," Wilder said. "He has experience recently with Florida International and Towson, and is currently helping Boston College prepare for their bowl game. He will bring knowledge, energy and enthusiasm to our running back room."

Rodriguez said: "I'm extremely excited and grateful to join the Tennessee Tech family. I look forward to working with Coach Wilder and the rest of the staff to build a championship-level program."

Rodriguez spent last season as an offensive line graduate assistant at Boston College. The Eagles rushed for 2,569 yards and 22 touchdowns, while passing for 2,270 and 15 scores. The team averaged 4.6 yards per rush and 11.8 yards per catch. The O-line set up a strong season for quarterback Thomas Catellanos, who rushed for 957 yards and 11 touchdowns, then passed for another 2,146 yards and 15 TDs.

He helped guide the Eagles to a bowl berth in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl against SMU at Fenway Park. That game is scheduled to be played on Dec. 28 and he will coach in the contest.

Before joining the BC staff, Rodriguez was at Towson from 2019 to 2022, starting as the offensive quality control coach and working with the quarterbacks from 2019 to April 2020, before being promoted to the quarterbacks coach.

In 2022, Towson saw a two-win improvement, winning the final four games of the season as the Tigers finished the year with a winning record in a challenging Colonial Athletic Association schedule. Quarterback Tyrell Pigrome was the team's leading rusher as he collected 555 yards – an average of 4.1 yards per carry – with two rushing scores, while passing for 1,638 yards and 14 touchdowns.

In his first season in 2019, he helped oversee quarterback Tom Flacco, guiding him to second-team All-CAA honors.

Rodriguez spent 2017 and 2018 at Florida International, his alma mater, as he started as a recruiting and operations intern from January to June 2017, before working quality control for the linebackers in 2017. In 2018, he was a defensive graduate assistant with the defensive line.

FIU went to its second bowl game in 2017 with a trip to the Gasparilla Bowl, while leading linebacker Anthony Wint to All-C-USA honors. The following year, FIU went to the Bahamas Bowl and won the game, while defensive linemen Anthony Johnson and Noah Curtis were honored in the C-USA postseason awards.

Rodriguez played quarterback at Warner University in Florida before transferring to Florida International. He earned his bachelor's degree in sports management in 2017, then earned his master's degree in 2019.

While he was attending FIU, he was quarterbacks coach at Southwest Miami High School.
