Josh gives Tech important depth at the X receiver position...saw playing time in 2014, and could see that increase in his final season...has good hands and deceptive speed...smart player who knows his position and understands his role...tkes great pride in is blocking ability and doing things right...a hamstring injury sidelined him for much of spring drills...played one season at Lindsey Wilson College in 2011, and was a redshirt member of the Golden Eagle squad in 2012...has seen limited action the past two years...hasn’t allowed his lack of playing time slow his determination and comes to play every day...an Honor Roll student.

AT TECH (IN 2014): Josh got into the action in seven contests but did not record an statistics...played on special teams.

(IN 2013): Josh saw action in the first game of the season against Cumberland but did not compile any stats.

(IN 2012): Sat out the 2012 season as a redshirt member of the squad.

BEFORE TECH: Spent the 2011 season at Lindsey Wilson College where he played cornerback.

HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year letterwinner and two-way starter for coach Marty Euverard at Battle Ground Academy...earned 11 letters in all, with four in basketball, one in baseball and two in track & field...starter at wide receiver and cornerback for the Wildcats...as a senior he had 49 catches for 755 yards, and made 30 tackles with two interceptions...led the team to the Division 2AA TSSAA semifinals.

PERSONAL: The son of Melvin and Jacqueline Smith...older brother of Golden Eagle receiver Jordan Smith...born August 19, 1992 in Nashville...full name is Joshua Alexander Smith....majoring in pre-physical therapy.
