Emerged as the Golden Eagle placekicker as a redshirt, walk-on sophomore in 2014 and won the job, proving to be a winner and leader...mentally tough...developed his skills tremendously during his redshirt year...a player the coaching staff and team can truly count on...can handle pressure well...extremely accurate leg...developing his skills and working to increase his distance...reliable...will come into 2015 fall camp prepared to face challenge for his starting assignment...strong student with excellent character, he has the full respect of his teammates.

AT TECH (IN 2014): John came out of fall camp as a question mark becuase of his inexperience, but quickly proved to be a consistent kicker who came through time-and-again in the clutch...went 11-for-16 in field goals, hitting 68.8 percent of his tries, and made 27-for-28 PATs...opened the year with a 45-yard field goal in the win over Kentucky Christian...only had one attempt in the next three games...converted all three field goals in a win over Murray State, including a 41-yarder under pressure in final seconds to send the game to overtime...went on to win the game in the extra session with a 20-yard field goal...named OVC Special Teams Player of the Week...also received CFPA and USA Football Network Placekicker of the Week awards...had a career-long 49-yard field goal at UT Martin...had a 44-yard field goal against Eastern Kentucky...had field goals in eight games, including two-for-two in the season finale at Austin Peay...called on in one game to handle kickoffs and averaged a team-best 66.7 yards on three kicks.


BEFORE TECH:  John attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., but did not participate in football, before transferring to Tech.

HIGH SCHOOL:  John was a three-year letterman as the kicker and punter under Coach Bruce Lussier at Father Ryan...earned all-region and all-state as a kicker, special teams MVP, and TWSA all-state...captain of the football team his senior year...his field goal career best was 49 yards and he had a 38.3 punting average...54 out of 68 kickoffs went for touchbacks...also an all-state soccer player for state championship soccer team...excelled academically, placing on the Academic Dean's list, National Honor Society, and Cum Laude Honor Society...Male Scholar Athlete of the Year...ROTC Excellence in Academics and Athletics Award.

PERSONAL:  Born John Michael Arnold to Michael and Ann Arnold on April 10, 1993, in Fort Wayne, Ind....hometown is Nashville, Tenn....majoring in biology/health sciences and intends to go into the medical field.
