COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Golden Eagles John Arnold, Austin Tallant,
Trey Thompson, and Ladarius Vanlier have each received a weekly FCS
honor from USA Football for their part in Tennessee Tech's 30-27
victory last Saturday night over Murray State. The four will be in
action again Thursday night at UT Martin.
Vanlier was named the Special Teams Player of the Week, while
Arnold was named Special Teams Rookie of the Week. Rookie of the
Week honors were given to Thompson, while Tallant received
honorable mention Defensive Player of the Week.
Vanlier had a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and accounted
for 185 all-purpose yards. Arnold was 3-for-3 on field goal
attempts, including a 41-yarder with nine seconds remaining to send
the game to overtime, then won the contest in the extra session
with a 20-yard field goal. Thompson had a game-high and career-best
15 total tackles, and Tallant had 13 tackles, 1.5 quarterbacks, and
forced a fumble deep in Tech territory that halted a Murray State
threat.
Tech hopes to continue its winning ways Thursday night with a 6:30
p.m. contest at UT Martin. The game can be heard on the Golden
Eagle Sports Network with Roger Ealey, Buddy Pearson and Dylan
Vazanno providing the call on 98.5 Kiss FM.
