COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- On Veteran's Day, Tennessee Tech has
unveiled a new camouflage-style football uniform that the Golden
Eagles will wear when the university celebrates Military
Appreciation Day on Saturday, Nov. 23.
The new uniforms will be on display when Tech hosts Austin Peay in
the final game of the 2013 season. Kickoff in Tucker Stadium is at
1:30 p.m. The game will be Military and Public Safety Appreciation
Day, in addition to Scout Day and Senior Day.
"The players love these uniforms," said coach Watson Brown. "A lot
of teams around the country are wearing some kind of
camoflauge-style uniform in honor of our military men and women, so
when we had the oppportunity to add these uniforms we were excited
to do it.
"It's a small tribute to our military, and it's one that everyone
involved in the program is excited about doing," Brown said.
Tech will begin the afternoon's festivities by recognizing its 12
senior players in pregame introductions.
All active and retired members of the U.S. military and their
families are the invited guests of the Golden Eagles, in addition
to persons who work in public safety fields and as first
responders. The final piece of the afternoon's promotion is an
invitation to all area scouts to attend the game as guests of the
Golden Eagles.
The 98.5 Kiss FM Tailgate Park opens at 10:30 a.m., and the Golden
Eagle Walk will parade through the park at 11:15 a.m.
Anyone holding a ticket to the game will also receive free
admittance into the men's basketball game against Milwaukee at 7
p.m. in Eblen Center.
