COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech punter Chad Zinchini and
cornerback Caleb Mitchell have received honorable mention from
Collge Football Performance Awards (CFPA) for their individual
efforts Saturday night against Jacksonville State.
Zinchini has moved to the top of the Ohio Valley Conference with a
punting average of 43.2 yards per kick after his strong effort
against the Gamecocks. A junior from Hendersonville, Tenn., he
punted eight times for 393 yards, averaging 49.1 yards per kick,
with three of his bombs downed inside the JSU 20-yard line. Two of
those were downed at the three-yard line.
Mitchell intercepted a pass in the first quarter and raced 49 yards
into the end zone for his second career touchdown, giving the
Golden Eagles an early 14-0 lead. It was his seventh career
interception. A fifth-year senior from RUssellville, Ala., ranks
ninth in the OVC in passes defended.
The Golden Eagles have an open weekend coming up, and will return
to action on Saturday, Oct. 20, when they host the Eastern Kentucky
Colonels at 7 p.m. in Tucker Stadium. For tickets or information,
