Golden Eagles pull rank in both FCS polls after EKU victory

Golden Eagles pull rank in both FCS polls after EKU victory

Tech 21st in Coaches poll; 23rd in Sports Network

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — With Saturday's victory over a ranked opponent at Eastern Kentucky, Tennessee Tech moved back into the top 25 in one Football Championship Subdivision poll and stood pat in another.

The Golden Eagles (6-3, 5-2 OVC) are ranked No. 21 in the FCS Coaches Poll, moving down one notch from last week's No. 20 ranking despite the victory. Tech moved up in The Sports Network/Fathead.com poll, however, settling in at No. 23 after being unranked a week ago.

Tennessee Tech is the only Ohio Valley Conference school ranked in either poll this week as Eastern Kentucky fell out after its 28-21 loss at the hands of the Golden Eagles. Jacksonville State (31st) and Eastern Kentucky (40th) both received votes in the Coaches Poll while JSU (29th), EKU (36th), Murray State (45th) and Tennessee State (55th) were mentioned in the Sports Network poll.

The Golden Eagles will play for an OVC championship on Saturday when Austin Peay visits Tucker Stadium for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.

Tickets are on sale at the Eblen Center box office or by calling (931) 372-3941.
