Jacob arrived on the Tech campus in 2009 and asked for a chance
to play football for the Golden Eagles...a walk-on addition to the
team, he worked at left tackle as a redshirt in his first
season...he became a reserve and saw his first career action in
2010...on the depth chart at left tackle for 2011...great
size...he's working diligently to develop his strength...did not
participate in any organized football prior to TTU...home-schooled
throughout elementary and secondary grades...family served as
missionaries in Dominican Republic...lived in that country from
1998 to 2008...played one year in the Dominican baseball
league...self-taught in football...learned the game playing
backyard games with his older brother, Joshua, and younger brothers
Caleb and Benjamin...has been on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll
the past two semesters.
AT TECH (In 2010): Jacob played in four games in
a backup role in the offensive line in his first season on the
field...continued his development and worked to increase his
strength while improving his technique.
(In 2009): A walk-on member of the team...redshirt season
while beginning the task of learning to play in the offensive
line.
PERSONAL: The son of Aaron and Stacy Hoot...born
July 5, 1988 in Corpus Christi, Texas...full name is Jacob Matthew
Hoot...studying elementary education...accomplished singer, he sang
the national anthem to open the 2010 OVC Outdoor Track & Field
Championships in Tucker Stadium.
