Demetrous became a key component in the Golden Eagle offense in
2010 and should see his role increase even more in 2011... comes
into the season listed at the top of the depth chart at the "Z"
receiver position...has proven to be a dual threat as both receiver
and ball carrier...elusive runner with breakaway speed...has the
ability to break tackles...joined the Golden Eagles in January 2009
and has been through spring drills for three years...came to
Cookeville out of the U.S. Naval Academy where he attened Prep
School and started all nine games...fantastic hands and really
quick feet...one of the team's best blockers on the
outside...ranked fourth last year among this year's returnees in
all-purpose yards.
AT TECH (In 2010): A starter in nine games,
Demetrous saw action in all 11 contests and ranked fourth on the
team in receiving...had 11 catches for 115 yards including three
catches for season-high 40 yards at Southeast Missouri...had four
games with multiple catches...also rushed nine times for 57
yards...two carries for 30 yards at TCU for a season-best
mark...finished with 172 all-purpose yards...sure handed, he
recovered back-to-back onsides kick atempts against Eastern
Illinois.
(In 2009): Ranked among team leaders in receiving,
Demetrous also piled up yardage as a ball carrier and punt
returner...finished his first season ranked fifth in receiving with
14 catches for 131 yards...rushed six times for 27 yards and
returned four punts for 55 yards, an average of 13.8 yards per
return...rushed five times for 23 yards against Jacksonville State
for a career-high on the ground...also posted career numbers
against the Gamecocks as a receiver, catching three passes for 54
yards and finished the game with 77 all-purpose yards...had
multiple catches in five games...returned three punts for 51 yards
in season finale against Murray State.
HIGH SCHOOL: named Class 4-A first-team all-state
as a junior at Hillsboro High School, and earned first-team
all-Mid-State, first-team all-region and first-team all-Metro as a
junior and senior...voted team captain as a senior...Tennessee High
School Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete Scholarship
recipient...as a junior he won the Coaches Award while making 44
catches for 819 yards and nine touchdowns...as a senior he grabbed
32 passes for 532 yards and seven touchdowns...on the defensive
side, he had four interceptions in each of his final two high
school seasons.
