Nick closed out the 2010 season strong, and should be considered
a special teams weapon for the Golden Eagles in his senior
season...has a strong leg and three solid years of experience in
his role as Golden Eagle punter...took over in the second game of
his freshman season and was a solid performer, ranking third in the
OVC in punting average...returns for his fourth season as the
team's punter...has 18 career kicks of 50 yards or better...has 122
career punts for 4,752 yards and a 38.9 average...has been listed
on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll four consecutive semesters,
and five of his six.
AT TECH (IN 2010): During the 2010 season, Nick
ranked seventh in the OVC in average at 39.7 yards per kick in 39
attempts... averaged nearly 44 yards per punt over the final four
games, including 45.5 at Tennessee State, 40.0 at Murray State,
46.0 against Eastern Kentucky and 43.0 against Jacksonville
State...had a long of 64 yards, that coming in the season opener at
Arkansas...kicked seven times and averaged 39.1 yards at TCU, his
busiest game of the year...downed 13 of his kicks inside the
20-yard line...had eight kicks of 50 yards or more.
(In 2009): Nick was Tech's punter for eight of 11
games...had a solid effort at Kansas State, averaging 44.4 yards on
five punts with a season-best long of 54 yards...when his average
dlipped at mid-season, he lost his job for a couple of
outings...returned at Georgia and averaged a solid 40.8 yards in
four kicks including a 50-yard effort...for the year he kicked 30
times and averaged 36.5 yards per punt...had three kicks of 50
yards or better, and downed five kicks inside the 20-yard line.
(In 2008): After watching from the sidelines in the first
game, Nick was called upon as the team's punter with an injury to
Jason Lennartz...took advantage of his opportunity and was a solid
contributor to the Golden Eagle special teams...ranked third in the
OVC in punting, averaging 39.8 yards per kick...had seven kicks of
50 yards or more...led the conference with 15 punts downed inside
the 20-yard line...long punt of 66 yards, one yard short of the
longest in the OVC...second in the OVC in number of punts, kicking
57 times for 2,270 yards...only two punts into the end zone.
HIGH SCHOOL: Nick is a 2008 graduate of Lawrence
County High School...earned a total of 10 letters in three
sports...four letters in basketball under coach Shane Clark...three
letters for coach David Marston on the football field, and three
more for coach Mike James in baseball...named Class 5-4A
all-region...as a senior, he averaged 38.8 yards per punt and was
3-for-3 on field goals...finished his grid career at LCHS going
6-for-9 on field goal attempts and averaged just under 39 yards per
punt.
