After proving himself as an outstanding lineman for the past two
seasons, Slade heads into his junior year with the potential to
receive additional post-season recognition...an all-OVC selection
as a freshman, he will anchor a veteran offensive line in
2011...one of the strongest players on the roster...returns to the
starting spot at right guard...spent his first year at Tech as a
redshirt member of the squad and showed tremendous progress, then
filled the starting role like a veteran in 2009...excellent
size...comes off the ball extremely well...excellent pass
protector...worked at left tackle in his first year and moved to
right guard in time to work at his new position during 2009 spring
drills...worked extremely hard at learning his new position...has
continued to develop his technique and strength.
AT TECH (In 2010) Slade was the starter at right guard
for all 11 games in 2010, including the contest at Austin Peay just
days after the death of his mother...received the team's inaugural
Most Valuable Offensive Lineman award.
(In 2009): Slade started at right guard and was a
familiar face in the offensive line in 2009, starting all 11 games
and bulldozing plenty of opponents...second-team all-OVC
selection.
(In 2008): Slade was on the roster as a redshirt in 2008
and worked with the Scout team at left tackle.
HIGH SCHOOL: Slade attended Mt. Juliet High
School where he was named first-team Class 4A All-State, in
addition to earning all-region honors and being named the Most
Valuable Offensive Lineman in the region...second-team
All-Midstate...a 2007 Mr. Football finalist and played in the
Tennessee East/West All-Star game...among his numbers as a senior
were 47 pancakes.
