Tennessee Tech Baseball Midweek Preview (May 18)
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech baseball team will wrap up the road portion of its 2021 schedule with a midweek trip to Lexington, Ky. Tuesday evening, squaring off with Kentucky in a 5:30 p.m. CT contest.
Also representing the Golden Eagles' final midweek tilt of the year, the contest marks the second straight season the two squads have faced off. In last year's meeting, the Wildcats claimed a 13-3 win in seven innings. Before that contest, Tech and UK had not met since 2014 when the Wildcats won a 15-13 slobber knocker that saw an eye-popping 10 home runs hit between the two programs.
The purple and gold head into the match-up after winning its final game of the weekend over UT Martin. Tech dropped the first tilts of the series after falling to No. 4 Tennessee earlier in the week, but rebounded for a 15-9 victory in the finale with the Skyhawks.
Kentucky enters the game after falling three times at home to South Carolina last weekend. The Gamecocks collected wins of 12-6, 9-0 and 11-6 to give the UK squad five straight losses heading back to its series with Florida the week prior. Tuesday's affair marks the final home game of the year for the Wildcats as well.
