Tennessee Tech Baseball Weekend Preview (May 7-8)
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Due to expected inclement weather in the Cookeville area, including heavy rain, this weekend's Ohio Valley Conference baseball series between Tennessee Tech and Morehead State has been moved up a day and will now commence on Friday, May 7.
Originally slated to kick off on Saturday, the two rivals will now square off with a single contest at Quillen Field and Bush Stadium at the Averitt Express Baseball Complex on Friday, beginning at 5:00 p.m. CT. A doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday, May 8, with first pitch currently locked in at 12:00 p.m. The second contest will follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
The Golden Eagles enter the weekend following a 1-2 mark on the road at Eastern Kentucky last week. After falling in the first two contests, the Tech bats exploded on their way to a 16-3 win in seven innings in the series finale. The purple and gold eked out 14 hits in the contest, with Cody Littlejohn, Brett Roberts and Jason Hinchman each driving in three runs in the victory.
Morehead State makes the trip to the Cookeville after playing Murray State in a four-game series last weekend at home, with the final contest representing no ties to OVC play. The Eagles won three of the tilts, including two that counted towards league play. The Racers won the third game, a 13-3 decision in seven innings to avoid the sweep.
