CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Tennessee Tech baseball couldn't complete the series sweep over Southeast Missouri Saturday afternoon, falling go the Redhawks at Capaha Field by a final score of 9-4.

The Golden Eagles were the first on the scoreboard in the contest, plating three in the top of the second inning. Continuing his hot weekend, freshman JD Funk provided the first score, ripping a double down the left field line for an RBI.

Fellow rookie Jack Schad split the next pitch down the left field line, also for an RBI double and a 2-0 lead. Yet another Tech freshman followed on the hit train, as Jason Hogan blistered a single to left center field to make it a 3-0 Golden Eagle advantage.

SEMO answered in the bottom half, scoring three times to tie the contest. Sophomore slugger Jason Hinchman went to work in the third, blasting his Ohio Valley Conference-leading 18th home run of the season to right field.

In the fourth, the Redhawks scored four to take the lead for good, adding single runs in the fifth and the eighth to take a 9-4 lead.

In the contest, Hinchman finished 3-for-5 with his solo bomb representing his RBI and run scored. Dyer gathered another solid performance, posting two hits in three at bats with a walk.

The Golden Eagles will return to action on the road for a pair of midweek contests. Tech will head east to face NC State on Tuesday, Apr. 23 in a 5:00 p.m. CT affair. The purple and gold will then take on Clemson on Wednesday, also at 5:00 p.m.
