Golden Eagle baseball team to hold inaugural Home Run Derby fundraiser Saturday

By TTU Sports Information

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - What better way to spend a crisp fall morning than by coming out to Tennessee Tech Baseball's inaugural Home Run Derby? On Saturday, November 17 at the Averitt Express Baseball Complex, members of the TTU baseball team will participate in a home run derby in an effort to help raise funds for Golden Eagle Baseball. The first bat will swing at 11 a.m. CT. Each player will have 20 swings to see how many home runs he can hit. Pitchers batting will get to double their home run count, so instead of four home runs, they will get to claim eight. Parents, alumni, fans and friends of the program are invited to come out and watch the event and cheer on their favorite players.

Facilities improvements, nutritional enhancements and general operational support are some of the priorities for the team's fundraising efforts this year. With an aggressive goal of $25,000, the team is hoping to see more than 200 balls fly over the fence. After the derby, attendees can head over to Tucker Stadium for the last home football game of the 2018 season. Kick-off against Eastern Kentucky is at 1:30 p.m.

Want to participate and support a player in the home run derby? You can download a roster and pledge sheet here.
