Tennessee Tech Baseball Weekend Preview (3/22)
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech baseball team is back at Bush Stadium at the Averitt Express Baseball Complex, opening a three-game, Ohio Valley Conference series Friday afternoon against in-state rival Austin Peay. Originally slated for a 6 p.m. CT start time, the first contest has been moved up to a 1 p.m. start on Friday with the second game to follow in a doubleheader.
With inclement weather including heavy rain and storms expected in the Cookeville area on Saturday, the decision to play a doubleheader was made Friday morning. Sunday's series finale is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start. Fans are encouraged to check social media and the TTUSports.com website for updates concerning this weekend's schedule.
The Golden Eagle offense is off to a record-setting pace in 2018, leading the nation in batting average (.360), doubles per game (3.20), hits (271), home runs (44), home runs per game (2.20), on base percentage (.447), slugging percentage (.639), runs (224) and scoring (11.2). Tech also ranks second nationally in doubles (64).
