BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech pitcher Alex Hursey took home his first weekly honor from the Ohio Valley Conference Monday afternoon, claiming the league's Pitcher of the Week award.

Hursey allowed just two hits while striking out eight in a combined shutout win over West Virginia last Tuesday. The Mountaineers, which entered the season ranked in the top-25 by D1Baseball.com, managed just three base runners off the junior college transfer.

The southpaw pitched eight innings and allowed just two hits (one each in the second and third innings) and a walk in his eight frames. Hursey, who picked up his second win of the season, retired the final 16 batters he faced before giving way to Colton Provey to finish out the game.

The Golden Eagles are scheduled to return to action at Bush Stadium at the Averitt Express Baseball Complex Tuesday, Mar. 20 for a 6 p.m. CT tilt against Alabama A&M.
