2017 Midseason Perfect Game/Rawlings All-American Teams

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – A historic start to the 2017 campaign has been an overall effort for the Tennessee Tech baseball team, which sits at 24-7 and a perfect 12-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play heading into the weekend.

The offense ranks as one of the most potent in the nation, currently sitting in the top 15 in the nation in hits (first), scoring (second), runs (second), home runs (fourth), slugging (sixth), doubles (eighth) and batting average (12th). On the flip side, the pitching staff ranks first in the OVC in batting average against (.251), innings pitched (278.0), strike outs (282) and saves (12), not to mention third in ERA (4.95).

The Golden Eagles torrid start, which can be contributed to so many individuals, has been recognized midway through the 2017 season by the Perfect Game and Rawlings, represented by an individual honor bestowed on junior designated hitter Ryan Flick.

The slugger was honored Thursday as a member of the Midseason Perfect Game/Rawlings College Baseball All-American First Team, a tribute to his incredible work at the plate through Monday, April 3.

At the time of his selection, Flick led the Golden Eagles with a .393 average, .475 on base percentage, and .718 slugging percentage, as well as 36 runs scored, 46 hits, 17 doubles and 32 RBI. He also boasted 17 doubles.

With another Tech victory in the book on Tuesday, a 10-1 showing over in-state rival Lipscomb, Flick heads into the weekend ranked second nationally in doubles, eighth in total bases, ninth in batting average, 10th in runs, 23rd in hits, 26th in slugging, 30th in RBI and 56th in home runs.

The Golden Eagles will head to Oxford, Ala. for a three-game series with Jacksonville State starting Friday evening.
