COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Backed by a Herculean effort at the plate last week, Tennessee Tech baseball's Ryan Flick earned his second weekly honor and first career Tennessee Sports Writers Association Baseball Player of the Week award Wednesday.

Playing four games in three days, Flick spent the week tearing the cover off the ball and producing runs for the Golden Eagles, batting a red hot .579 with eight runs scored, seven RBI and a slugging percentage of 1.053.

The junior designated hitter finished 3-for-5 in a slugfest at Lipscomb, smashing a home run and double while scoring three times. He then tallied four hits in five at bats in the OVC opener at UT Martin, driving in three and scoring twice. Flick carried the Tech offense in the series finale, finishing 4-for-6 with two runs scored, three RBI a double and a home run.

For the week, the Bluff City, Tenn. native posted an on base percentage of .619 and finished just a triple shy of the cycle in two games.

Flick currently leads the OVC in doubles (0.56/game) and total bases (2.94/game), is second in slugging (.758) and fourth in batting (.419).

Austin Peay's Alex Robles took home the TSWA Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors after tossing a complete game shutout in a 4-0 victory over Jacksonville State. The senior righthander allowed just three hits with one walk and 11 strikeouts for his second career shutout and fifth career complete game. He retired 10 consecutive batters in the middle of the game and struck out six of the final nine hitters of the contest.
