COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The awards are starting to pile up for Tennessee Tech third baseman Daniel Miles as the junior nabbed Collegiate Baseball newspaper Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week honors for his performance over the past week.
Miles put up huge numbers for the Golden Eagles last week, collecting seven hits in 14 bats for a .500 average. The third baseman crushed four home runs while scoring seven times and walking five times. He recorded nine RBI, while putting up a 1.357 slugging percentage and .632 on-base percentage.
The junior did the bulk of his damage on Saturday, tying a Golden Eagle record with three homers in a single contest. Miles went yard in three consecutive innings and drove in six runs against Austin Peay, guiding his team to a 10-7 win. He also combined with shortstop Dylan Bosheers to become the first set of teammates to hit back-to-back dingers in back-to-back innings in Tech history. Each hit first-pitch bombs in both the fourth and fifth innings.
On Sunday, he added another home run, going back-to-back with designated hitter Brandon Thomasson in the second inning to set up a 12-4 win against the Govs.
A crucial part of the Golden Eagle sqaud this season, Miles leads Tech in both average and slugging percentage, totaling marks of .343 and .657, respectivley. He ranks second on the team and fourth in the OVC with seven home runs and has driven in 28 runs in 28 games played.

• OF Patrick Puentes, Holy Cross: Puentes belted 3 home runs and 11 RBIs in six games last week as he went 10-for-22 with 7 runs scored, 2 doubles and a triple. He did the bulk of the damage during a doubleheader against Lafayette. Puentes was 7-for-8 with 3 homers, 9 RBIs and also hit for the cycle in the second game of the twinbill as he went 5-for-5 with 4 runs scored, 6 RBIs and 2 homers.
• 3B Daniel Miles, Tennessee Tech.: Miles hit 4 home runs and drove in 9 runs over four games last week as he went 7-for-14 at the plate. He scored 7 runs while walking 5 times. His slugging percentage for the week was 1.357.
• RHP Aaron Blair, Marshall: Blair struck out 11 batters with one walk and only allowed two hits in eight innings during a 4-0 win over Houston. In five of the eight frames, he went 1-2-3 through the Cougar lineup. At one point, he retired 14 in a row.
