COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - On the heels of a greatly successful opening weekend, the Tennessee Tech baseball team (2-1) will hit the road for a single contest in Nashville against the Lipscomb Bisons (2-1) of Tuesday. The game is set for a 4 p.m. CST first-pitch at Ken Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium.

The Golden Eagles will go up against a Bisons team that took two of three games from fellow Ohio Valley Conference member SIU Edwardsville over the weekend. Lipscomb won the first two games of the series behind 18 combined runs. The team fell 3-2 in the third game of the weekend.
Leading the Bisons' bats over the weekend was senior Noah Chandler. The outfielder collected six hits in 13 at bats for a .462 batting average. He drilled both a double and a home run in the series against SIUE for a .769 slugging percentage. Chandler also had two walks and one RBI against the Cougars, along with a stolen base.
The top pitcher for Lipscomb was Hunter Brothers, a senior right-hander. He gathered a win following a performance of just two hits allowed in 4.2 innings. Brothers struck out two while holding the Cougar hitters to a batting average of just .133.
Expected to be on the bump for Lipscomb in Tuesday's match-up is junior right-handed pitcher Jacob Knott. Knott redshirted last season after transferring from Seminole State College.
WHAT'S IN THE NEST?
Tech is coming off a fantastic start to the 2013 season, earning two victories in a three-game series against Big Ten opponent Illinois. After falling in the season opener 13-2, the Golden Eagles recovered nicely, taking Game Two 6-5. They finished the series in dramatic fashion, using a walk-off home run by junior designated hitter Brandon Thomasson to down the Illini in Game Three, 7-6.
Guiding the Tech offense over the weekend were a number players, as six Golden Eagles hit above .300 in the series. Senior left fielder James Abraham led the group, batting .545 with six hits, three runs scored, two RBI, and a walk. Sophomore shortstop Dylan Bosheers drove in three runs against the Illini, collecting five hits in 12 at bats for a .417 average. Two of his hits went for doubles.
Also gathering three RBI for the Golden Eagles was junior third baseman Daniel Miles, who recorded three hits in just nine plate appearances. Junior first baseman and OVC co-preseason Player of the Year Zach Stephens hit .333 over the weekend, scoring two runs in just nine official at bats. He also earned five walks against Illinois.
Pitching big in the series for Tech were sophomore right-handers Seth Lucio and Jacob Honea. Starting on Sunday for the Golden Eagles, Honea threw six innings, allowing just four hits and one earned run while striking out seven. The closer for Tech this season, Lucio pitched 2.1 innnings in relief, letting just one Illini batter record a hit. He struck out three Illinois players in two games and earned both a save and win for the weekend.
The projected pitcher for the Golden Eagles on Tuesday will be Nick Price, a senior right-hander who has already pitched 3.1 innings of relief this season, fanning four Illini batters.
The contest against the Bisons will the be first of a home-and-away series between Tech and Lipscomb this season. The Golden Eagles will host the Bisons at Bush Stadium at the Averitt Express Baseball Complex on Tuesday, May 14.
