Boys of Summer: Pryor and Oberacker making noise in the minors

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It’s been a busy summer for the nine former Tennessee Tech Golden Eagle baseball players who are moving along in the minors as they continue their journey to the show.

Since getting called up to the AA Jackson Generals, Stephen Pryor has made the most of his promotion as he has allowed just three runs in 17 innings pitched. He was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the fifth round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft.

Former TTU all-OVC outfielder Chad Oberacker has also been heating things up, as he has put together a .407 batting average over his last 10 games, raising his seasons average to .295. In his last game Oberacker recorded three hits against Mahoning Valley.

A.J. Kirby-Jones – Burlington Bees (A, Oakland Athletics)

Over his last 10 games, Kirby-Jones has put together a .286 batting average and has cranked three home runs, while driving in 12. His 13 home runs on the season currently ranks third on the team.

Stephen Pryor – Jackson Generals (AA, Seattle Mariners)

Pryor is continuing to roll since his promotion to AA last month. In three of his last four appearances he has pitched shutout ball, pitching four innings, while striking out four and earning a pair of saves. In his 12 appearances since his promotion, Pryor has put together a solid 1.59 ERA while striking out 21 batters. He has also put together a 2-1 record and has notched three saves.

Adam Liberatore – Charlotte Stone Crabs (A Advanced, Tampa Bay Rays)

Liberator has made three appearances in the last two weeks, pitching an inning in each instance, while striking out two batters.

Ryan Dennick - Wilmington Blue Rocks (A Advanced, Kansas City Royals)

In his last two appearances, Dennick has pitched 4.2 innings, striking out five batters. Over his last 10 games he has compiled a 3.38 ERA.

Chad Oberacker – Vermont Lake Monsters (A Short Season, Oakland Athletics)

In his last 10 games, Oberacker has put together a scorching .407 batting average, bolstered after his three-hit performance against Mahoning Valley. He is currently batting .295 on the season with 39 hits and 11 RBI.

Bubbie Buzachero – Long Island Ducks

Buzachero has been rock solid in relief during his last seven games, as he has pitched a total of seven innings, while earning four saves.

Lee Henry - Shreveport-Bossier Captains
Henry has struck out five batters in his last three relief appearances.

Jim Ed Warden and Casey Benjamin – Southern Maryland Blue Crabs

Warden is third on the Blue Crabs in ERA with a mark of 2.98. He has been the Blue Crabs go-to reliever in the ninth inning as he has earned a team-high 24 saves.

Benjamin is currently batting .257 and has hit 10 home runs and driven in 45 RBI.
