Golden Eagles wrap up homestand against Belmont

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- After blasting SIU Edwardsville 18-5 Sunday, the Tennessee Tech baseball team will take a break from Ohio Valley Conference action Wednesday as it hosts the Belmont Bruins.

The opening pitch is set for 6 p.m.

After an 8-1 loss to Belmont earlier this season, the Golden Eagles are now 31-29 against the Bruins. In their previous meeting, Dylan Bosheers led the Golden Eagles with three hits, including a double and a triple.

During their three-game series against SIUE, several Golden Eagles made some good showings at the plate, including Jordan Hopkins, who drove in a team-high six RBI, including a grand slam in the series finale. Ben Burgess also put together a productive weekend as he hit .538 in the series and scored a team-high six runs.

Zach Stephens still ranks near the top of the NCAA in several offensive categories, as he is second in total bases, third in home runs and fifth in on base and slugging percentage.

Belmont (25-13, 11-4 A-Sun) recently snapped a three-game losing streak with a 7-6 win at Mercer. The Bruins will play host to Western Kentucky before visiting TTU. Belmont is currently 9-7 on the road.

Greg Brody has led the Bruin offense this season as he has driven in a team-high 31 RBI, while knocking four home runs. Zac Mitchell has also seen a productive season as he has driven in 25 runs, and leads the team with a .356 batting average.
