TUCSON, Ariz. --- Tennessee Tech sophomore Zach Stephens has been named a Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Player of the Week for his efforts last week against Tennessee and Central Michigan.
This is the first time Stephens has been named a Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
Zach Stephens finished the week batting .588, which included one home run in each game this past week, and has now hit a home run in his last five games. His seven runs and eight RBI led the team this past week as he maintained a 1.412 slugging percentage. His two-run home run against CMU Saturday turned out to be the game-winner as well.
TTU finished the week with a 3-1 record, including a 5-1 win over Tennessee, and a pair of wins against Central Michigan (7-4 and 14-13).
So far on the season, Stephens has batted .472 with nine home runs and 23 RBI in 19 starts this season.
