COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- The power hitting came alive for the Tennessee Tech baseball team Tuesday as it notched four dingers, en route to a 9-8 win over Lipscomb at the Averitt Express Baseball Complex.
Three Golden Eagles combined to hit four long balls including Austin Wulf, James Abraham and Dylan Bosheers, with Bosheers notching the first two home runs of his career.
Wulf, Abraham and Bosheers combined for all nine of TTU's RBI, with Bosheers leading the way with four. The trio also accounted for six of Tech's 10 hits and four of its nine runs scored.
The hitting parade began in earnest as junior Austin Wulf opened the bottom of the first with his second home run of the season, bringing the Golden Eagles even with the Bisons at one. With his opening salvo, Wulf has now posted at least one hit in Tech's eight games this season.
Junior James Abraham kept the pressure up in the bottom of the first as he belted a two-run shot to right center to extend TTU's lead to 3-1. Bosheers added a solo-shot in the bottom of the second and a three run homer in the sixth to give Tech a 9-4 lead.
The Bisons rallied for four runs in the top of the eighth, but TTU closer Cullen Park came in and got the final five outs for Tech to secure his first save of the season as the Golden Eagles took the 9-8 win.
Matthew Shepherd earned his first victory of the season as he threw 2.2 innings, while striking out three batters. Tech starter Nick Price went 3.2 innings, as he fanned five Lipscomb batters.
Dannie Strable was saddled with the loss as he surrendered four runs in one inning of work.
The Lipscomb offense was led by Griffin Moore, who drove in a team-high three RBI, while Lee Wilson accounted for the Bisons' lone home run of the day, a solo-shot in the bottom of the first.
The Golden Eagles host a three-game series against Dayton this weekend, with the first game scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m.
