Golden Eagles host Illinois State in game two of three-game series

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tennessee baseball team battled with the Illinois State Redbirds in game two of their three-game series Saturday.

ISU managed to come away with the 9-4 victory, primarily behind a five-run second inning.

For the Golden Eagles Michael Morris had the big hit of the day as he hit his first homerun of the season. Morris finished the day with a team-high two runs.

Junior James Abraham recorded a pair of hits as well, while freshman Jordan Hopkins hit a two-run double in the bottom of the ninth.

Three players recorded a pair of hits for ISU, including Zac Johnson and Stewart Brock who each hit a home run.

Brad Sorkin earned the win for the Redbirds as he threw seven innings, while giving up just a pair of runs. David Hess was saddled with the loss.

Relief pitcher Seth Lucio threw three scoreless innings for the Golden Eagles as he recorded two strikeouts. Josh Bryant threw a pair of innings as well, as he posted three strikeouts.

The Golden Eagles wrap up their three-game series against Illinois State Sunday. The opening pitch is set for 1 p.m.
