Tech baseball squares off with in-state rival East Tennessee Wednesday

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tennessee Tech baseball team wraps up its five-game road trip Wednesday as they take on the Buccaneers of East Tennessee. The first pitch, originally scheduled for 2:05 p.m., has been moved up to 1:05 p.m.

The Golden Eagles, who won a 3-2 contest against Missouri State earlier this week, will look to increase their momentum heading into their first home series of the season Friday as they host Illinois State.

Tech leads the all-time series against ETSU with a mark of 46-41, but it was the Buccaneers that came away with the win in their last meeting as they defeated TTU 6-5 last season.

Through four games this season, junior Austin Wulf has had the hot bat as he has posted a .533 batting average, including eight hits and one home run. Sophomore Zach Stephens has also made a quick impact as he has notched one home run and three RBI.

Tech freshman Seth Lucio is expected to make the start for the Golden Eagles. Lucio has made one appearance this season posting, one strikeout.

The Buccaneers enter the game with a 1-2 record, having dropped their last two games to Eastern Kentucky.

Derek Bushey is expected to take the hill for ETSU. Bushey has thrown five innings and notched six strikeouts in two appearances this season.

At the plate Matthew Scruggs has been ETSU's biggest threat as he has posted a .455 batting average, while hitting three home runs on five hits. He has also driven in a team-high five RBI.
