COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Scouts from 22 major league teams visited
Tennessee Tech Thursday night for the baseball team's annual Pro
Scout Night in the Averitt Express Baseball Complex.
Scouts came from teams on both coasts and everywhere in between to
watch, time and evaluate the 2011 Golden Eagle players. After some
fielding, throwing and running, the team went through an intrasquad
scrimmage game.
"It was a typical pro workout," said assistant coach Larry Bragga,
who helped coordinate the event.
Head coach Matt Bragga was excited about the turnout of scouts. He
attributes the large number of scouts on hand to the high talent
level on the Golden Eagle roster and the recent success of the team
including the 2009 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament championship
and the 2010 OVC regular season crown.
"Our program is in a different place today than it was a few years
ago," Bragga said. Following the 2010 season, five Golden Eagles
were drafted by major league teams and a sixth signed a free agent
contract.
